Piotr i Paweł, the Polish retail chain of 134 supermarkets, decided to invest in EDI communication with hundreds of its suppliers. Key trading documents including invoices and orders are to be exchanged electronically via Infinite EDI communicator and then stored in the e-archive.
“Piotr i Paweł is committed to scaling up its market positioning so technological advancements are indispensable. Deploying electronic data interchange in our retail chain is a step towards the optimisation of supply chain by means of automating processes and introducing precise standards of communication with our suppliers. We have opted for the services of Infinite since this IT company knows the intricacies of FMCG industry, while EDI integration solutions are their flagship products” – Barbara Zalewska, Member of the Management Board in charge of the Supply Chain Management, comments.
The deployment of Infinite EDI communicator and Infinite EDI archive is to commence soon. The platform will be integrated with the ERP solution operating at Piotr i Paweł, contributing to the complete synchronisation of data between the systems.
Electronic data interchange offers numerous improvements to Piotr i Paweł retail chain and its business partners. Taking into consideration the volume of documents which the retailer exchanges with its suppliers, the implementation of EDI will cut down the administrative costs such as printing, envelope stuffing or mailing. By introducing the EDI platform, Piotr i Paweł will reduce the number of errors which used to happen every now and then, when data was processed manually. With messages exchanged faster, the retailer will be able to enhance the process of delivery settlement.
Resigning from the paper-based archiving in favour of the e-archive will allow Piotr i Paweł to generate extra savings. It will be possible thanks to eliminating such costs as paper purchase, printing, envelope stuffing, mailing or traditional document archiving.
Infinite is strongly connected with the FMCG industry. The company has been developing software for producers, distributors and retail chains for 14 years now. The key areas of business activity include EDI solutions, mobile systems (SFA), ERP for distributors.
